GAUGE:
Sweater, Hat, Booties 24 sts + 32 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) and Pattern st on Size 4 (3.5 mm) needles Blanket 22 sts + 34 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in Pattern stitch on Size 6 (4 mm) needles When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. SWEATER
Back
With smallest needles, cast on 55 (67, 79) sts.

Work in k1, p1 Rib for 3/4", end after a WS row.

Change to next size needles.

Work in pattern st, beg with Row 1, until piece measures 7 (8, 9)" from beg, end after Row 4 of pattern.
Shape armholes Cont in St st, bind off 3 (4, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows, end after a WS row.

Place rem 49 (59, 69) sts on holder.

Left Front
With smallest needles, cast on 25 (31, 37) sts.

Work in k1, p1 Rib for 3/4", end after a WS row.

Change to next size needles.

Work in pattern st, beg with Row 1, until piece measures 7 (8, 9)" from beg, end after Row 4 of pattern.
Shape armhole Cont in St st, bind off 3 (4, 5) sts at beg of row.
Next row (WS) Purl.

Place rem 22 (27, 32) sts on holder.

Right Front
Work as for Left Front until 7 (8, 9) inches from beg, end after pattern Row 1.
Shape armhole Cont in St st, bind off 3 (4, 5) sts at beg of row.

Sleeves
With smallest needles, cast on 37 (41, 45) sts.

Work in k1, p1 Rib for 3/4", end after a RS row.

Inc 6 (8, 10) sts evenly across row - 43 (49, 55) sts.

Change to next size needles.

Work in pattern st, beg with Row 1, until piece measures 7 (8, 9) inches from beg, end after Row 4 of pattern.

Cont in St st, bind off 3 (4, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows, end WS.

Place rem 37 (41, 45) sts on holder.

Shape raglan Place sts onto circular needles in the following sequence: 22 (27, 32) sts from Left Front holder, place marker, 37 (41, 45) sts from Sleeve holder, place marker, 49 (59, 69) sts from Back holder, place marker, 37 (41, 45) sts from Sleeve holder, place marker, 22 (27, 32) sts from Right Front holder - 167 (195, 223) sts.
Dec row (RS) *K to within 2 sts of next marker, k2tog tbl (through the back loop), slip marker, k2tog; rep from * across all markers, k to end - 8 sts dec.
Next row (WS) Purl.

Rep the last 2 rows 12 (15, 18) times more - 63 (67, 71) sts.

AT SAME TIME, when armhole measures 2 1/4 (3 1/4, 4 1/4)", shape neck as foll Cont with raglan shaping, after working first 4 (5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows, place them on holders, then dec 1 st at beg and end of every RS row (neck edges) 2 (2, 2) times.

On last WS row, p2tog before and after each marker.

Slip rem 43 (45, 47) sts on holder.

Neckband With smallest needles, pick up and k 61 (65, 69) sts evenly along neck edge, including sts on holders.

Work in k1, p1 Rib for 6 rows.

Bind off in rib.

Left Front Button Band With RS facing and smallest needles, pick up and k 61 (71, 81) sts along Left Front center edge, including neckband.

Work in k1, p1 Rib for 6 rows.

Bind off in rib.

Place 3 markers for buttons as foll: First button at fifth st from top, next 2 buttons 8 sts apart.
Right Front Buttonhole Band

Work as for Left Front Button Band for 2 rows.
Row 3 *Rib to next marker, bind off 1 st; rep from * across all markers, rib to end.
Row 4 Rib, casting on 1 st over each bound-off st.

Rib for 2 more rows.

Bind off in rib.

FINISHING
Sew side and sleeve seams.

Sew on buttons.

BOOTIES (Make 2)
With smallest needles, cast on 27 sts.

Work in k1, p1 Rib for 4 rows.

Change to larger needles.

Work in pattern st, beg with Row 1, working an extra k 1 at beg and end of every row.

Work pattern Rows 1-4 twice, end pattern Row 1.

Cont in St st, bind off 9 sts at beg of next 2 rows - 9 sts rem.
Instep Cont in St st on center 9 sts for 1 1/4 ", end after a WS row.

Break off yarn and
place sts on holder.

With RS facing, pick up and k 9 sts along the bound-off sts; pick-up and k 8 sts along the instep; k 9 sts from holder, pick up and k 8 sts along instep; pick up and k 9 sts along bound-off sts - 43 sts.

Work in St st for 1", end after a WS row.
First Dec Row K2tog tbl, k 18, slip1-k2tog-psso, k 18, k2tog - 39 sts.

P 1 row.
Second Dec Row K2tog tbl, k 16, slip1-k2tog-psso, k 16, k2tog - 35 sts.

P 1 row.
Third Dec Row K2tog tbl, k 14, slip1-k2tog-psso, k 14, k2tog - 31 sts.

Bind off as if to purl.

Sew tog back seam and sole.

TAM
With smallest needles, cast on 85 sts.

Work in k1, p1 Rib for 6 rows.

Change to next size needles.

Beg with pattern Row 1, inc 12 sts evenly spaced across row - 97 sts.

Cont in pattern st until 6 repeats have been completed, ending after Row 4 is completed.

Dec 1 st at end of last row - 96 sts.
Dec Row 1 *K 10, k2tog; rep from * - 88 sts.
Dec Row 2 *P2tog, p 9; rep from * - 80 sts.
Dec Row 3 *K 8, k2tog; rep from * - 72 sts.
Dec Row 4 *P2tog, p 7; rep from * - 64 sts.

Cont dec 8 sts every row, working 1 st less between decs, until 16 sts rem.

Cut yarn leaving a long strand and pull through rem sts, tighten and sew seam.

BLANKET

With largest needles, cast on 121 sts.

Knit 5 rows.

Keeping first and last 6 sts of each row in Garter St (k every row), work in pattern st, beg with Row 1, until piece measures 32 inches from beginning, ending after Row 4.

Knit 5 rows.

Bind off loosely on next row.
