GAUGE:
22 sts + 44 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:
Stripe Pattern Knit rows in the following sequence: Rows 1-2 Knit. Row 3-4 CC. Rows 5-8 MC. Rows 9-10 CC. Rows 11-16 Knit. Rows 17-18 CC. Rows 19-24 Knit. Rows 25-26 CC. Rows 27-34 MC. Rep Rows 25-34 for stripe pattern.

NOTES:
Sweater is knit sideways. Depending on size, garment may appear slightly different from photo. Circle all numbers pertaining to your size for ease in working.


INSTRUCTIONS



PULLOVER Front Tab With CC, cast on 11 (11, 13) sts. Knit 5 rows. Place on holder. Right Sleeve With CC, cast on 31 (31, 35) sts. Knit 1 row. Beg Stripe pattern. Atsame time, inc 1 st each side every 6th row 9 (8, 14) times, every8th row 3 (5, 3) times - 55 (57, 69) sts. Body Cast on 33 (43, 48) sts at beg of next two rows - 121 (143, 165) sts.Work even until 30 (42, 48) rows from body cast-on, end WS. Front Neck Shaping K 58 (66, 77), leave rem sts 63 (77, 88) unworked. Knit one row. K tolast 2 sts, k2tog. Rep these two rows 5 times - 52 (60, 71) sts. Work even 9rows. K 41 (49, 58) in pattern color, k 11 (11, 13) CC. K 11 (11, 13) CC, k 41(49, 58) in pattern color. Center Ridge With CC, k two rows.Continuing in Stripe Pattern in reverse order (mirror image) from center ridge,k 41 (49, 58) in pattern color, k 11 (11, 13) CC. Bind off 11 (11, 13) with CC,k 41 (49, 58) in pattern color. K 41 (49, 58) in pattern color, k 11 (11, 13)Front Tab sts from holder. Work even 9 rows. K to last st, inc 1. Knit 1 row.Rep these two rows 5 times - 58 (66, 77) sts. Slip sts to right side of needleand place on hold. Back Neck Shaping RS facing, rejoin yarn at neck. Bind off 4 (7, 7) sts, knit toend of row - 59 (70, 81) sts. Knit one row. K2tog, knit to end of row - 58(69, 80) sts. Knit one row. K2t0g, knit to end of row - 57 (68, 79) sts.Work even for 21 rows. Center Ridge With CC, k 2 rows. Cont in Stripe Pattern inreverse order from center ridge. Knit 22 rows, inc 1 st at end of last row.Stripe pattern should match Front stitches and number of rows for Front and Backshould be equal. Join Front and Back Slip Front stitches back to left side of needle. Cont in pattern, k 58(66, 77) Front stitches, cast on 4 (7, 7), knit 58 (69, 80) Back sts. Workeven until Left Front is same length from neck shaping as Right Front. Left Sleeve Bind off 33 (43, 48) sts at beg of next 2 rows - 55 (57, 69) sts. Dec1 st each side next and every 8th row 3 (5, 3) times, every 6th row 9 (8, 14)times, maintain correct narrowing stripe pattern to cuff. Finishing Tuck Front Tab to inside and tack down along short edge. With CC andshorter needle, pick up 1 st in each st or ridge around neck. Knit 1 row. Bindoff. With CC, pick up 1 st in each ridge along Front bottom edge. Knit 1 row.Bind off. Rep for Back bottom edge. Sew side and underarm seams. PIXIE HAT With B, cast on 96 sts. (With B, k 8 rows; with A, k 2 rows.) twice. With B,k 5 rows. Dec row *K2tog, k 4; rep from * to end - 80 sts. K 2 rows.With A, k 2 rows. With B, k 5 rows. Dec row *K2tog, k 3; rep from * to end - 64 sts. K 2 rows.With A, k 2 rows. With B, k 5 rows. Dec row *K2tog, k 2; rep from * to end - 48 sts. K 2 rows.With A, k 2 rows. With B, k 5 rows. Dec row *K2tog, k 1; rep from * to end - 32 sts. K 2 rows.With A, k 2 rows. With B, k 5 rows. Dec row *K2tog; rep from * to end - 16 sts. K 2 rows. With A,k 2 rows. With B, k 5 rows. Dec row *K2tog; rep from * to end - 8 sts. K 2 rows. With A,k 2 rows. With B, k 2 rows. Break off yarn leaving 18 inches end. Thread through remaining stitches withlarge-eyed, blunt needle and draw tight. Sew back seam. Tassel Wrap yarn around 10 inches cardboard 25 times. Cut a piece of yarn 18inches long and thread doubled onto large-eyed, blunt needle. Insert needleunder all strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull tightly and knot securelynear strands. Cut yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut a piece of yarn 12inches long and wrap tightly around loops 1 1/4" below top knot to formTassel neck. Knot securely; thread ends onto needle and weave ends to center ofTassel. Trim Tassel ends evenly and attach to tip of hat.
