GAUGE:
10 sts and 14 rows = 4" [10 cm] over garter st (k every row) using size 11 (8mm) needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Row 1 (and all wrong side rows) Knit.

Row 2 K1, yo, [k4, inc 2, place marker in center yo] twice, k14, [inc 2, place marker in center yo, k4] twice, yo, k1-46 sts.

Rows 4, 6, 8 and 10 K1, yo, [k to st above marker, inc 2, move marker up to center yo] 4 times, k to last st, yo, k1.

Remove first and last markers.

Rows 12 , 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28 K1, yo, [k to st above marker, inc 2, move marker up to center yo] 2 times, k to last st, yo, k1.

Bind off loosely.
