10 stitches + 12 rows = 4 inces [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

With 3 strands of A held together, cast on 25 stitches.

Work even in Stockinette stitch until piece measures 38" [96.5 cm] from beginning.

Bind off.

Cut 12 strands, 10" [25.5 cm] long, of each of B, C and D.

Using 1 strand for each fringe, fold in half to form a loop.

With wrong side facing, insert crochet hook into center point of bottom edge of Wrap and draw loop through.

Draw ends of fringe through loop and pull gently to snug knot up to bottom of Wrap.

Work evenly, alternating colors, across center 4" [10 cm] edge of bottom of Wrap and center 4" [10 cm] edge of top of Wrap.

Sew short sides together.

Weave in ends.
