GAUGE:

9 sts and 18 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in garter stitch (knit every row) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

BLANKET
Cast on 5 stitches. Knit 1 row.
Next row Knit 3, yo, k 2.
Next row Knit 3, yo, k 3.
Next row Knit 3, yo, knit to end.
Repeat last row until there are 126 stitches on needle.
Next Decrease Row Knit 2, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k to end.
Repeat last row until there are 7 stitches on needle.
Next Decrease Row Knit 2, k2tog, k2tog, k to end.
Bind off remaining 5 stitches.

This is such a simple blanket and is very cute! It is a little on the plain side, but still it is very nice and simple to knit and would be a really great beginner blanket. I used about 4 1/2 skeins instead of the 3 called for, just to make it a little larger than a baby blanket. It is very warm and cozy and looks very pretty!
