GAUGE:

16 sts + 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in garter stitch (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Cut fringe before beginning scarf.

SCARF

Make a slip knot and cast on 15 stitches – 16 stitches total.

Knit every row until piece measures 72 inches.

Bind off all stitches. Weave in ends.

Fringe

Wrap ribbon around 7½" piece of cardboard 24 times. Using 2 strands for each fringe, fold in half and use crochet hook or fingers to pull through first stitch at short end of Scarf. Draw ends through loop and snug up against Scarf. Work a total of 6 fringes, evenly spaced, along each short end.
