Size 6 (4.25 mm) 16-inch circular needles
9.5 sts and 13 rows = 2" in St st with size 6 needles.

HAT:Crown: With straight needles size 6, cast on 90 (90, 95, 95) sts. Work in St st for 3 (3 1/2, 4, 4)". First dec row: *K 3, k2tog; rep from * -- 72 (76) sts. P 1 row. K 1 row. P 1 row. Second dec row: *K 2, k2tog; rep from * -- 54 (57) sts. P 1 row. Third dec row: *K 1, k2tog; rep from * -- 36 (38) sts. P 1 row. Fourth dec row: *K2tog across row -- 18 (19) sts. P 1 row. Last dec row: K 0 (1), *sl2-k1-p2sso; rep from * across -- 6 (7) sts. Cut yarn, leaving long strand to draw through rem sts. Tighten and sew back seam. Brim: With WS of crown facing, using circular needles size 4, pick up and k 115 sts around. Place marker for beg of rnd. Rnd 1: K 1, *sl 1 wyif, k 1; rep from * around. Rnd 2: Sl 1 wyif, *k 1, sl 1 wyif; rep from * around. Rep Rnds 1 & 2 for 3/4". Change to circular needles size 6. Cont in pat until brim meas 2" from beg. Bind off as if to k.
