Fringed Shrug
Lion Brand® Landscapes®
GAUGE:
10 sts + 16 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in Garter st (k every row) on larger needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Shrug is a shaped rectangle with ends sewn to form sleeves. Fringe is added around sleeve cuffs.

SHRUG
With smaller needles, cast on 25 sts. Work in K1, P1 Rib for 3" [7.5
cm]. Change to larger needles. Inc Row [K 4, knit into front and back of next st] 5 times – 30 sts.
Continue in garter st, inc 1 st each end every 10 rows 2 times – 34 sts.
Work even in garter st until piece measures 51 1/2" [131 cm] from beg, or 8”
[20.5 cm] less than desired length.
Continue in garter st, dec 1 st each end every 10 rows 2 times – 30 sts.
Change to smaller needles.
Dec Row [K 4, k2tog] 5 times – 25 sts.
Work in K1, P1 Rib for 3” [7.5 cm].
Bind off.
FINISHING With RS out, fold shrug in half lengthwise. Beg at one sleeve cuff, sew a 20”
[51 cm] seam along edge. Repeat for second sleeve. This leaves an opening at
center for body of shrug. Try shrug on and adjust length of seams if necessary.
Weave in ends.
FRINGE
Cut 72 strands of yarn approximately 6" [15 cm] long. For each fringe, hold 3 strands of yarn together and fold in half. Use crochet hook to draw through edge of piece, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Make 12 fringes along the top of each sleeve cuff with 3 strands of yarn in each fringe. Trim fringe evenly.

loved this pattern! very easy to make and it came out just like the picture. the only thing i found is that the 59 1/2" length would have been too long for me (even tho it's 1 size fits all). so just check your length and you'll be fine.
