14 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] over garter stitch (knit every row) using size 9 (5.5mm) needles. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. Making a Gauge Swatch
Exact gauges is not imporant to this project.

Note: This scarf is made of rectangles sewn together as interlocking loops.

Rectangle: (make 12 in total, 4 each in A, B and C) Cast on 7 stitches.

Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for 10" [25.5 cm].

Bind off.

First loop: Sew bound off edge of one Rectangle A to cast on edge.
Second loop: Pull a Rectangle B through first loop and sew bound off edge to cast on edge.

Continue interlocking and sewing loops together, working colors in sequence.

Weave in all ends.
