I'm Forever Blowing Bobbles Felted Scarf
Lion Brand® Lion® Wool
GAUGE: 16 stitches + 20 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side), before felting. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Scarf will shrink after felting. Scarf is knit in Stockinette stitch. Bobbles are created by securing rigid plastic balls within portions of scarf, then felting.

SCARF
Cast on 20 stitches. Work in Stockinette stitch until only a few yards of
yarn are left. Bind off loosely.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. With right side of Scarf facing, hold 1 ball at a time against
wrong side of Scarf. Pull knitted fabric tightly around ball and tie with
thread. Continue to randomly tie balls into Scarf as desired. Felt Scarf
following instructions below. While piece is still damp, cut threads to remove
balls. Pull Scarf into a rectangular shape.
FELTING
Wash by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several
pieces of clothing to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regular
setting until almost dry. Remove from dryer and pull into shape. More about felting |
