GAUGE:

20 sts + 28 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Ellen's Knit Hat (SHIPS Project) Reviewed by Joyce Cook on 2009-04-28 *****
I have made many of these hats. I do them in black. This color was requested for camouflage reasons. I am doing this project as my part to support our troops. The hats are being distributed through my auxiliary in Margate, Florida. Happy knitting. I would like to see this pattern in crochet. Thank you for sharing. Joyce Cook Joyart77@aol.com
