GAUGE: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4" [10 cm] in rev st st on size 8 needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Rose is made of 'petals' of 12 rows, 18 rows and 24 rows.

ROSE Cast on 6 stitches Row 1 *knit Row 2 purl Row 3-12 (3-18, 3-24) repeat from * until desired length is reached. Bind off, weave in ends. Make petals as you wish. Our example (top) has 1 12-stitch petal of #137 fuchsia (center) 1 18-stitch petal of #104 Blush Heather 1 18-stitch petal of #139 Dark Rose Heather 1 24-stitch petal of #102 Ranch Red 1 24-stitch petal of #140 Rose heather 1 18-stitch petal of #146 Lilac FINISHING: With sewing thread and needle, stitch through bottom of petal, pulling tight to gather into a circle. Add next petal, gathering and sewing through the bottom to secure the petal. Continue with as many petals as you wish until flower is as full as you wish. Tie off thread.
