GAUGE: 12 sts + 16 rows = 4 inches [10 cm] in Lace Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Pattern Row 2 Slip first st as if to knit, knit 3, work Lace Pattern Row 2 to last 4 sts, knit 4. Continue in pattern as established until piece measures 48 (51, 54) inches [122 (129.5, 137) cm] from beginning. Work Row 1 of Poncho Pattern 5 times. | I really enjoyed knitting this. Very easy pattern and knits up quick. Agree with previous comment about knitting it shorter as the overall weight pulls it down a bit.
